August 16, 2024
On Friday August 16, we get to perform a very old, though not often used, ceremony to celebrate the work of building an Odd Fellows lodge. Technically, the cave's platform and stairs have been rebuilt, not built new, but to honor the work that was done, and the fact that a new lodge is being formed in it, we're holding this dedication ceremony.
The activities of the new lodge will begin at 5PM in Yreka #19, with a an institution of Richard Brouse Degree Lodge #190. The charter will be presented and signed by Grand Master Dave Reed and new officers will be installed.
We’ll break for dinner around 6, and then begin our journey to the cave at 7. We’ll take some time for photos when we arrive (it will be too dark to take them when we leave) and then hold the dedication ceremony. The ceremony is open to anyone, Odd Fellows or not.
We should be back at Yreka 19 by 9:30 or so.
The cost would have been over $30 per person, but it has been covered by the generosity of our donors, whom we gratefully recognize. Here are the donors* who've made this occasion free for those participating:
- Ventura #201
- Grass Valley #12
- Romero #413
- Davis #169
- Campo Seco #66
- Trinity #299
- CA Grand Encampment
Thank you so much!
*Note, this is only a list of donors since April 5th, who sent in support after an appeal for help with the dedication. Here is a more complete list of donors whose generosity has helped bring us to this current moment.
Online registration is now closed. If you can reach the Yreka 19 lodge in time to participate, you are welcome to do so, but there are no more seats on the bus. You will need to get to the cave using alternative transportation.
Online ticket sales for this event are closed.
