The plan for the 77th Odd Fellows Cave Degree Weekend now includes a few additions to the program. The Odd Ball, which was introduced last year to rousing acclaim, is returning. The initiatory degree is being moved to Friday, and there may not be breakout sessions this year. The Rebekah degree is returning, but will now take place between the first and second degrees in Yreka.

Probably the most interesting change is the addition of a “dream concert” after the second degree, for those who want to stay and enjoy the splendor of the cave itself. This will be produced by Charlie Sweeny, a member of the Richard Brouse Degree Lodge who goes by the professional handle “Audio Shaman”. Participants will bring their own sleeping bags with them to the cave, and enjoy soft ethereal music throughout the evening as they sleep. The concert ends at sunrise.

There are no separate ticketed events this year. The Odd Ball and Dream Concert are both included with all registrations. Food, however, is not included this year, and must be purchased separately.

To receive the Rebekah Degree, candidates who’ve been elected to join a Rebekah Lodge must provide a letter from that lodge addressed to Philotesian Rebekah Lodge #145.

Anyone who plans to stay at one of the local hotels will have a few options in the area, but if staying at the Best Western Miner’s Inn, which is the closest hotel directly opposite the street corner where Yreka 19 is located, we have a block of rooms reserved. They are working on creating a code for us to use during online registration, but at the moment, if you call them and tell them you’re with the Odd Fellows, they can set you up with that discounted rate. When you call, make sure you are talking to somoene at Miner’s Inn, and not the Best Western corporate call center. Only the people actually working at the desk of the Miner’s Inn will be able to help you secure a discount. The Miner’s Inn can be reached at 530-842-4357.

The cost this year is $100 per participant, and includes access to everything in the schedule, but not food. If you’d like to eat at Yreka 19 during the meal times, they’ve set up a separate ordering page. There are also a number of other restaurants in the area.
