Becoming a Member of Richard Brouse Degree Lodge 190

Richard Brouse Degree Lodge #190 accepts members from all jurisdictions. You will need to submit an application so that the current members can accept you, just like joining any other Odd Fellows lodge. The application fee is $10, and will cover your first year’s dues. If you aren’t able to be accepted, the fee will be returned to you. But so long as you are paid up with your home lodge, and we’re able to verify that with your home lodge secretary, you should have no problem joining.

As you can probably guess, a degree lodge cannot be your only lodge or your primary lodge. It’s not considered an associate membership, and so it does not count toward your limit of 3 associate memberships within a single jurisdiction. A degree lodge membership is its own unique type of membership, but requires you to be in good standing with your home lodge.

Although we generally accept all Odd Fellows who are in good standing with their home lodge (we still use a ballot, but it would be unusual to refuse an applicant), all of our meetings are conducted in the third degree. This isn’t meant to be exclusionary, but as a degree lodge, we need the freedom to discuss all aspects of all 4 degrees during normal lodge business. And technically, before you can sign the members register, you will need to be a third degree Odd Fellow (CA code V.1(J)(5)). However, even if you are not yet a third degree member, your dues are still a very valuable form of support, and we thank you for them.

We meet once a month over zoom on the fourth Friday of each month (taking off in November and December for the holiday season), and we have an extra in-person meeting (at Yreka 19) on the Friday before a degree weekend.
